My practice dips into the themes of memory, reflection, storytelling and the self. Working primarily with paint and collage I have recently begun to experiment with sculpture and installation. Water holds the memory of everyone and everything that it has encountered. As a scuba diver I wanted to incorporate this idea into my work. My practice is deeply personal – exploring my conscious and subconscious mind using imagery from personal experience as a scuba diver, memories from my childhood and teenage years. I have had a deep connection with the sea since I was a small child and was only 15 when I started diving. Since then, I have dived nationally and internationally. The experience gives a sense of serenity and euphoria each time that I am submerged. The sea is an old friend of mine, and we share many memories together.
